Welcome to the Town of Groveland Fire Department Web Site. Our Department consists of 40 firefighters all of which serve on a paid call basis. Groveland has a population of approximately 7,000 residents, encompasses an area of 10.5 square miles and is located in what is referred to as the "Merrimac Valley". Groveland is bordered by the Merrimack River and situated northeast of Boston. The Department services the Town in all areas of fire suppression including residential, commercial and woodland properties. Our department is also responsible for conducting water and ice rescue in addition to providing numerous emergency medical service calls. Fire personnel undergo rigorous and diversified training on an ongoing basis in order to develop the skills necessary to provide the services needed in our rapidly growing community. A significant portion of our residential growth has occurred outside of the water district or in areas where insufficient water supply has been of concern. As you browse through our web site you will notice that our equipment is setup to operate with either hydrants or tanker water supplies and that many of our pieces of apparatus serve duel rolls relative to medical response and forest fire suppression.
Our equipment and manpower is designed to be flexible, efficient, effective and tailored to addressing our specific community needs. However, in the final analysis it is our dedicated and highly trained family of firefighters that makes the difference and I am proud of each and everyone of them for all they do.
