Meeting called to order at 6:00 P.M. at Town Hall.
Present Elizabeth A. Gorski and William H. Darke, Chairman
Appointment to Capital Improvement Committee
The Board met briefly with Stephen Williamson who had recently applied for appointment on the Finance Board. At the time of Mr. Williamson’s request the Finance Board was in full membership so the Board’s Assistant wrote and asked Mr. Williamson if he would be interested in serving on the Capital Improvement Committee. Williamson had attended a recent CIC meeting and telephoned to express interest in being appointed.
Moved Gorski, seconded Darke, and it was
VOTED: To appoint Stephen Williamson to serve on the Capital
Improvement Committee, said appointment effective
immediately through June 30, 2007.
Tax Classifcation Hearing
Assessors Gerry Hill, Dana Moody and their Office Manager Debra Webster met with the Selectmen to conduct their annual Tax Classification Hearing. The Board of Assessors recommended that the tax rate continue as a single rate for both residential/commercial, explaining that the town’s commercial base is not large enough to be concerned with having a separate rate; that to do so now would cause large increases to businesses with very small reductions to home owners. Moved Gorski, seconded Darke, and it was
VOTED: To accept the Assessors recommendation and adopt a single
tax rate for both commercial and residential properties for fiscal
year 2007.
Webster informed the Board that the proposed rate, if approved by DOR, will be $9.77 per $1,000 of valuation.
VOTED: To approve Warrant #07-22A.
Minutes
Moved Gorski, seconded Darke, and it was
VOTED: To approve the Minutes of the meeting of
November 27, 2006, as presented.
Executive Session
Moved Gorski, seconded Darke, and it was unanimously
VOTED: To enter into Executive Session in accordance with the provisions
of MG L, Chapter 39, Section 23B (2), for the purpose of hearing
complaint and ADA’s recommendation on complaint filed by
Library Trustee.
